DeSantis says publishers took 'the woke out' of the math books he banned for containing Critical Race Theory

The governor doubled down on his decision to exclude a record number of math books from classrooms.

"These math books were doing woke math, and they were rejected by the state of Florida," he said. He spoke at an event for Moms for Liberty.

Two plus two equals four, right? How do you feel about that? He asked the audience if it was an injustice, and they laughed.

The crowd applauded as he said the kids need to be taught to get the right answer.

State reviewers found allusions to Critical Race Theory in 54 of the 132 math textbooks submitted by school districts.

The books were rejected by the FDOE because they were considered to be attempts to indoctrate students.

The 6,000-page report was released in May. Some books were rejected for mentioning "racial profiling in policing" and "types of housing for different groups of people."

The pieces of the textbooks that the state said contained Critical Race Theory were taken away by the publishers.

They woke us up and gave us normal math books.
