The legal team for Musk said that the company wants a fast trial. The case will not be heard until next year.

The request for the trial to be expedited was made because of the October 24th drop-dead date. The trial is supposed to be held on February 13th, but Musk's team wants it held earlier.

The social networking site pointed to its initial complaint as the reason for not commenting.

The lawsuit was filed this week after Musk tried to bail on the deal. The company filed a lawsuit on Tuesday after the board chairman said the company would take Musk to court. He did reply via the court on Tuesday.

Last week, Musk's legal team wrote that he wanted to end the merger because he hadn't been given the data to make an independent assessment of the prevalence of fake orspam accounts on the platform. In Friday's filing, his team invoked the issue again. According to The Wall Street Journal, the core dispute over false and fake accounts is fundamental to the value of the micro-messaging service. It requires a lot of time for discovery.

A 90-minute hearing will be held on July 19th to decide when the trial will start.
