The International Space Station will soon be home to Russian cosmonauts.

NASA signed a deal with Russia's space agency to swap seats on the craft that will travel to and from the space lab. NASA astronauts will fly aboard Russian Soyuz spacecraft, as they have done many times before, and cosmonauts will climb aboard private American vehicles for the first time.

A plan that has been in the works for a while and is now confirmed is that of the pioneer cosmonaut. NASA officials said in an email that her crewmates on that flight will be Nicole Mann and Josh Cassada.

There are amazing launch photos of the crew.

The Crew 6 will be launched in the spring of next year. Agency officials said that Steve and Woody would be on that mission. The fourth member of the crew has not been announced.

Frank will travel to the International Space Station with two other people on a mission slated to launch in September. In the spring of 2023, NASA's Loral O'Hara will be on a mission with two other men.

NASA officials said in an email that there are appropriately trained crew members on the station for essential maintenance and spacewalks. It protects against contingencies such as a problem with any crew craft, serious crew medical issues or an emergency aboard the station that requires a crew and vehicle to return to Earth sooner than planned.

In the wake of the invasion of Ukraine, many of Russia's space partnerships have ceased to exist. Russian-made rocket engines aren't sold to American companies anymore and Russian-built rockets aren't in the stable of Arianespace. Russia is still an important part of the program since it began.

The space station and its operations have not been affected by the invasion of Ukraine. cosmonauts spread anti-Ukraine propaganda from the International Space Station, causing condemnation from NASA and other partners.

cosmonauts on the International Space Station were told to stop using a European robotic arm that's part of Russia's Nauka module, as reported by Space News. The command was given in response to Europe severing ties with Russia.

Non-Americans will not be the first to fly on a trip to the International Space Station. At least one international crew member was on each of the company's first four flights.
