The new images of Jupiter were taken by NASA's new space telescope.

The telescope was able to get the moon of Jupiter in the frame.

The shots are notable because they show that the new telescope could answer some of the biggest questions we have about the moons in our solar system, such as how much water there is in the ocean.

Tiny Moon

It is possible for the Webb to find out once and for all if the water is coming from the ocean.

Scientists working on the project are excited about that possibility. One step closer to finding out if the tiny moon could harbor life could be brought about by that.

"That's one of the cool things that we'll be able to do with this telescope in the solar system," said the deputy project scientist at NASA.

According to NASA, scientists were able to figure out that the ability to track objects that move more than twice the expected baseline is similar to photographing a turtle crawling when you're standing a mile away.

Cosmic Backyard

The images were taken before science operations began on Tuesday and are a testament to the full potential of the JWST.

"These images of Jupiter demonstrate the full grasp of what we can see from the faintest, most distant observable galaxies to planets in our own Cosmic backyard that you can see with the naked eye from your actual backyard," he said.

The $10 billion space observatory has been in development for decades. The next Solar System targets are going to be very bright.

There are now images of Jupiter in the data.

A picture of Jupiter was just quietly released by the telescope.
