Things last a long time. President Joe Biden's no-handshake policy for his current visit to the Middle East lasts a few minutes.

According to the New York Times, President 46 and his team had decided that in light of the newest coronaviruses subvariant, Biden would not shake hands.

Jake Sullivan, a national security advisor, told journalists on Air Force One that they were in a phase of the Pandemic. I can't talk to everyone at the same time. It's just a general principle.

The President was pleased with the start he made. A few politicians, including current Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, were welcomed on the airport runway with a Biden fistbump.

When the US leader was welcomed by the former Israeli PMs, he shook hands with both of them.

Sometimes the best falls down. The no-handshake policy is a good one.

The latest variant, BA.5, is spiking numbers for both reinfections and hospitalizations. Natural immunity has not been effective against the fast-spreading virus.

"Not only is it more infectious, but your prior immunity doesn't count for as much as it used to," said Bob Wachter, chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. "That means that the old saw that, 'I just had Covid a month ago, and I'm not going to get it again', that no longer holds."

The collective groaned.

The good news is there. NPR reports that the death rate hasn't spiked despite the increase in the number of infections.

It should stay that way. Is this in the future? Extra safety precautions might be taken to keep our hot girl summer going. The president was also included.

Biden adopted a covid policy but not for long.

The World Health Organization was concerned over skyrocketing Monkeypox cases.
