Remembering William Hart Getty

The lead singer of The Delfonics, William "Poogie" Hart, has passed away.

The man's son tells the website. William had trouble breathing and was taken to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he died from his injuries.

The group was founded in the late 1960's by William and his brother, Wilbert. The Philadelphia sound would be affected by the group.

"Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)," "Break Your Promise," "I'm Sorry," and "Ready or Not Here I Come" were all written by William and Thom.

The Delfonics won a gramophone award in 1971 for their performance "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time".

Both 'Didn't I' and 'La-La' were in the movie. The movies "Crooklyn" and "The Family Man" popularized their music.

The song "Ready or Not Here I Come (Can't Hide from Love)" was used in the video game "Grand Theft Auto V" on a fictional radio station.

In 1975, the original band achieved twelve top-20 hits on the single chart. The splinter groups performed through the '90s and 2000s.

William was older than 75.

I am sad.
