Tiger Woods laments first-round struggles at Open Championship (1:01)

There is a time and a place for this.

7:10 AM ET

It took a long time to get Tiger Woods to the first tee. After a car crash, he underwent months of rehabilitation. He and his team worked for hours. He didn't play in the U.S. Open and had to take time off. He is here.

It will take a lot of work for him to stay over the weekend.

If Woods doesn't go low in the second round, he won't make the cut.

He is at the Old course.

On Friday, Woods will face this. If he wants to see Saturday and Sunday in Scotland, he will need to post something in the 60's.

No. 1: Par 4, 375 yards

When the opening tee shot doesn't land in a fresh hole, it's easier. On Thursday, Woods' second shot went in the burn and he walked off a terrible double-bogey. Things went well on Friday because there was no divot. The par was made after a safe approach to the green and a better putter.

No. 2: Par 4, 452 yards

On a chilly morning in Scotland, Woods was walking with his hands in his pockets. His swing seems free in the early rounds. He had a good chance at the hole with a solid drive and iron approach. The 20-footer missed the target. If Woods makes the cut, a lot of those will have to leave.

Although he had just 101 yards in for his second shot, Woods wasn't going to change his stance. He moved away from the hole and hit a 25-footer for a touchdown. He had a lot of problems with the putter on Thursday but it is working so far on Friday. He put the ball into the red numbers.

Woods hit a tree. The ball was close to the pin. There was a problem. One of the double greens is on the Old course. The 13th is the day it is shared with. The ball went onto the green. It was 7 feet from the 13th hole when it stopped. The putt came up short. On the left side, the more manageable one missed.
