Calvin Bassey, a highly-rated Rangers' player, is being considered for a deal to sign with two other European clubs.

At least seven teams are interested in the 22-year-old, who is a defender.

Sky Sports News said in May that Bassey was a target for Steven Gerrard.

It is believed that Alfred Schreuder, the head coach of the Dutch club, spoke to Bassey over the phone and was impressed with him.

Rangers are relaxed over interest in the Nigerian international and will not entertain any bids unless they exceed £20m, with one source suggesting that any deal may need to better the all-time Scottish record of £25m.

Rangers will break their club record transfer fee for a second year in a row if Bassey leaves this summer.

A key part of the Rangers board's strategy is their player trading model, which led to Nathan Patterson's move toEverton in January for £16 million.

Bassey is believed to be settled at Rangers and would be open to further talks with other clubs.

The defender, who has two years left on his contract, made 50 appearances across all competition last season and was named in the Europa League team of the season after the club's run to the final.

He was part of the Rangers team that won the Scottish Cup in May.

Antonio Colak is one of Rangers' summer arrivals and has been discussing his move to Ibrox

Rangers added Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo and John Souttar to their squad this summer, but are expected to make further moves during the window.

With reported interest in Rangers' other left-back Borna Barisic, the club are looking at adding more defensive options, as well as bolstering their attacking line-up in order to qualify for the European competition.

'Bassey has the potential to reach the top'

Sky Sports has a reporter named Sahil Jaidka.

Rangers could be set to sell one of their key players from last season, but whoever wants him faces a real battle to land the defender, such is the competition."

After years of ups and downs, the 22-year-old has continued to excel at Ibrox and also broke into the Nigeria squad."

He was one of the first names on the team sheet last season due to his pace in and out of possession and aerial presence.

Bassey has shown that he has the ability to reach the top after claiming the man of the match in the Scottish Cup final days later.

"Rangers fans will no doubt be sad to see him depart but if the club are to land a fee in the excess of £20 million, it shows the player trading model is working."

Bassey's departure would allow Rangers to buy players, develop them and then sell them on for a large profit.

For the club to receive a club record fee for a player for a second successive window will be good for the club as they move towards full financial viability.

"With four additions already this window, it is clear the board are backing Giovanni van Bronckhorst in this transfer window and there's no doubt Ross Wilson will have a list ready to ensure more faces in several areas arrive at I Rangersx before the transfer window shuts."

Burke expects 'Bassey bidding war'

Rangers should be commanding a fee of at least £25m for Calvin Bassey, if he was to be sold amid interest from Premier League clubs, says former midfielder Chris Burke.

Chris Burke is a former Rangers player.

During the last six months, I think he's been a really good performer. In a back three or back four, he can play many positions.

As time goes on, he's getting better and better.

It will be a lot of money if the club sells him.

You can't see that he would be any less than what he is.

I hope he stays because he is still learning. He was very good in the European match.

Calvin Bassey could be in a Rangers shirt next season, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bidding war for him.
