The cost of sending mail in Washington state has gone up.
The United States Postal Service's first-class mail "forever" stamps increased to 60 cents from 58 cents. The cost to ship international letters increased 10 cents to $1.40 and the cost to send postcards increased to 44 cents from 40 cents.
The Postal Service has raised its prices due to inflation and increased expenses.
In less than a year, the price increase returns. The price of most of the first-class mail was raised to 10 cents in August 2021.
Around the time that postal stamps were first introduced, the Postal Service was in Washington state. Customers can purchase stamps at 538 post offices. They can be purchased at the store.
The new mailing prices were approved by the governors of the U.S. postal service.
The good news is that the stamps are good to use at any time as they represent the current price of purchase. People with forever stamps will save 2 cents on their stamps.
Along with new first-class mail prices, the Postal Service is looking to adjust its costs for certified mail, post office box rentals, money orders and mailing insurance.
The first-class mail price increases will take effect on Sunday.
Sixty cents to 58 cents is the one-ounce letter's domestic price.
A single-piece letter costs 20 cents to 24 cents.
55 cents to 57 cents for metered mail.
40 cents to 44 cents is the postage cost on a postcard.
The letter is one ounce and can be used internationally.
