Knicks Rumors: Julius Randle Unlikely to Be Part of Donovan Mitchell Trade Packages

Julius Randle is not expected to be included in a trade package for Mitchell, according to reports.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the Knicks are more likely to include Fournier or Rose in a deal for salary-matching purposes.

The Knicks have the ability to package Rose or Fournier, along with several draft picks, to get Mitchell.

It's likely New York wouldn't be willing to move a player they consider vital to next season's efforts if Mitchell was traded.

After trading Rudy Gobert, the Jazz seem to be in a full-scale rebuild. As part of the deal for Gobert, the Minnesota Timberwolves gave up four future first-round picks. The veteran players acquired for Gobert may wind up in another place later this year.

After putting together an All-NBA campaign, he returned to earth in the next two decades. He remained effective, posting averages of 20.1 points, 9.9% rebound and 5.1 assists, but failed to live up to the billing as a franchise star and bristled at criticism.

Rose was limited to 26 games last season because of injuries, but he's still a better trade piece than Fournier. Rose will make $14.5 million next season and has a team option for the next two seasons, while Fournier will make $36.9 million guaranteed over the next two seasons.

While neither Rose nor Fournier has much trade value around the league, the Jazz could save money by buying out the 2010 NBA Most Valuable Player.
