According to CNN, a police officer has backed up the testimony that Donald Trump had a fight with his security team after they refused to drive him to the US Capitol.

CNN reported that a member of the Metropolitan Police Department witnessed an altercation between Trump and the Secret Service agents. He gave his account to the congressional committee.

A person for the committee didn't reply to a request for comment.

Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House staffer, told the January 6 committee that she had heard about an altercation between Trump and his security team after the former president spoke at the Ellipse.

Tony Ornato, the White House deputy chief of staff, told Hutchinson that the president was angry when he was told he couldn't go to the Capitol.

Two Secret Service agents told CNN that they had heard of the altercation.

Text messages from January 5 and January 6 were deleted by the Secret Service.

After the inspector general of the Department of Homeland Security requested electronic communications, the messages were erased. The Secret Service stated in a letter that the messages were lost in a program.
