Pete Alonso will be the second seed in the Home Run Derby in the year 2022.
In the second round of the Home Run Derby, Ronald Acuna Jr. and the New York Mets faced off. Alonso hit a buzzer-beating home run to beat Acuna and win the Derby.
Alonso is one of three players in history to have won back-to-back Derby titles. He would tie Ken Griffey for the most wins if he won a third time.
National League home run leader Kyle Schwarber is the top seed and will face off against Albert Pujols at the event.
Schwarber is making his second appearance in the Derby. He was runner-up to now-team mate BryceHarper.
Pujols has participated in five Derby events, but has never reached the finals.
Seager, a former Dodgers infielder, is the third seed and will face Seattle's rookies.
Seager, who has bashed 21 home runs this season for the Texas Rangers, is participating in the Derby for the first time since his freshman year. Rodriguez will try to become the third rookies to win the Derby after Alonso and Judge.
Jose Ramirez will make his Derby debut as the No. 5 seed against Juan Soto.
He upset Shohei Ohtani in a battle that came down to a swing-off in the Derby in 2020. He hit a home run at the Derby that was 520 feet. The American League's leading scorer is Ramirez, who has hit 17 homers and is also leading the league with 68 points.
The batter will have three minutes in the first two rounds to hit more homers than their opponent. The winner will get $1 million of $2.5 million in prize money, the losing finalist will collect $500,000, and the six other participants will each make $150,000. An extra $100,000 will be given to the player with the longest homerun.
