Sony introduced a new loyalty program called PS4 Stars. The program is free to join. Points can be redeemed for wallet funds, game purchases and items from the store.

Digital collectibles were unveiled for loyal members. It is not an NFT.

Grace Chen, vice president, Network Advertising, Loyalty & Licensed Merchandise, writes in a PSone blog that they are digital representations of things that PSone fans enjoy, including figurines of beloved and iconoclastic characters from games and other forms of entertainment. Ultra- rare collectibles can be collected by members of the PS4 Stars.

In order to earn rewards, members must complete tasks and campaigns. If a player is the first to Platinum a blockbuster title in their local time zone, they will be rewarded. A monthly check-in campaign will require you to play any game in order to get a reward.

This is the first rewards program of its kind.

The launch of Sony's PS Plus subscription coincides with the introduction of the PS Stars. Points are earned for purchases made in the store.

The growing effort in the gaming industry is reflected in the two announcements.
