After his serious car accident in February 2021, Tiger Woods said he would play The Open at St. Andrew.
When asked if Woods had talked to him about being here for the 150th Open, he replied "quite often."
To make sure he was ready, Woods skipped the U.S. Open and allowed his leg and body to heal.
He said it's his favorite course.

The Open was full of hope. He hit his opening tee shot into the middle of the fairway at the first hole. He chunked his second shot into the burn near the green. Woods missed a 3-footer for a bogey after hitting a chip over the water. The bad got worse very quickly.

Woods chuckled as he left the ninth green. He shot 41 on the front side at St. Andrew, but at least it was a bogey. He needs to do a lot of work on the back nine in order to have a chance of making the cut. He just wanted to smile at the only bright spot in a gloomy start to The Open.

One good swing can make a big difference. Maybe that happened at the ninth. A good approach resulted in a goal. At the 10th, he had a perfect hole. A well-shot ball. The approach was precise and controlled. The putt was dead center.
