Donald Trump was going to declare victory on election night even if there was no evidence that he was the winner, according to a leaked Steve Bannon conversation.

The audio was recorded three days before the election and was published by Mother Jones on Wednesday.

Trump is going to just proclaim victory. Yes, right? He is going to make a statement. But that doesn't mean he's a winner

He's going to say he's a winner.

The release of the audio coincides with the trial of Steve Bannon, who is due to go on trial on Monday for violating a congressional subpoena.

On Wednesday, Bannon's attorneys again asked a federal judge to delay the trial, citing references to some of his past comments during Tuesday's public hearing of the select committee.

According to CNBC, the events create a serious risk of prejudice for the jurors.

A federal judge dismissed a previous motion by Bannon to delay the trial and ruled that he could not make two of his main defences to a jury.

The trial must go ahead despite the justice department's dismissal of the last-ditch attempt to avoid accountability after Steve Bannon said he was willing to testify.

According to the Mother Jones audio, the former president planned to take advantage of the possibility that postal votes would be counted later than in-person Republican votes.

Even as millions of ballots were yet to be counted and Fox News called the state of Arizona for Joe Biden, Trump claimed that he had won.

In a scenario in which Trump held an early lead in swing states, he was going to walk in the Oval Office and say he was the winner. The game is done. Don't do that.

Mother Jones reported that the audio was recorded during a meeting between Bannon and supporters of a Chinese mogul.

According to the meeting, Democratic supporters were more likely to vote by mail than Republicans.

The public perception would be that Trump was winning the election. The Democrats would have an advantage.

Trump is going to use it. Our strategy is that. He's going to say he's a winner.

It is going to be a big deal when you wake up on Wednesday.

You are going to have a lot of craziness. The media is insane. The court is insane. Trump is going to be sitting there and making fun of people. I'm the victor. I'm the ruler.

On the day of the election, Trump would claim victory if it looked like he was going to win, according to reports. Both claims are supported by the Mother Jones audio.

Biden won the election with more electoral votes than Trump. The number of people who voted for Biden was higher than the number who voted for Trump.
