The doctor who helped the rape victim get an abortion after she was denied one under Ohio's abortion ban will be investigated by the state.

The state could try to take away her license if she is found to have violated reporting requirements according to Rokita.

The 10-year-old girl, who was denied an abortion in Ohio, had a medication abortion in Indiana on June 30.

Rape and incest are not allowed in Ohio after six weeks of a pregnant woman's life.

In Indiana, physicians are required to report any abortions they perform for patients under the age of 16 to the state health department and child services agency within three days.

Failure to report child abuse, such as the girl's rape, and the fact that physicians and other individuals are required to do so, is a felony.

The rape was reported to child services in Ohio in order for police to learn of the crime.

There is a strong public interest in understanding if someone under the age of 16 or under the age of 18 is having abortion in our state. Parents need to be aware if a child is being sexually abused. They need to be aware. Public policy experts need to be aware of what's going on.

Democrats and abortion rights advocates were incensed by Rokita's comments. The deputy chair of Indiana's Democratic Party said that Rokita has been thirsty to get on Fox News since the story developed and has fabricated a witch hunt to get his fifteen seconds. It is a travesty for the safety and health of women. This can't continue.
