The new loyalty program will include digital collectibles. The service will allow players to earn points and rewards by completing activities. Points can be used for benefits, such as a PSN wallet fund.

Grace Chen, Sony's vice president of PlayStation network advertising, loyalty, and licensed merchandise explains that points can be redeemed in a catalog that may include PSN wallet funds. Points for purchases on the Sony Store are earned by members of the PS Plus program.

Nothing to do with the blockchain

Sony is giving away digital collectibles as a bonus. That sounds similar to NFTs, but it isn't. In an interview with The Washington Post, the company made it clear that it is not using anyBlockchain technologies or NFTs.

Digital representations of figurines and characters from games will be part of the collectibles.

New collectibles will be earning regularly. It doesn't sound like they'll be available to buy directly. There will be monthly challenges that require players to play any game in order to get a reward. How collectibles are rewarded is a mystery.

Microsoft has a rewards program for XBOX players and Nintendo has a gold points program. Microsoft rewards include activities and surveys. You can get reward points for using Bing and Edge. When players purchase a new game, they can earn Nintendo's Gold Points.
