A periscope camera lens and greatly enhanced optical zoom will be available in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
There have been rumors about the iPhone getting a periscope lens for a long time. The analyst initially said that a periscope lens would be a feature in the next iteration of the phone, but more recently he said that the lens would be in a "pro" model of the phone.
The 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Max, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max are likely to be offered by Apple in the years to come. The periscope lens will be exclusive to the 6.7-inch Pro Max device, with the 6.1-inch Pro model keeping the telephoto lens for optical zoom, according to a new report by the author.
Light entering the lens is reflected by a mirror towards the camera. The change in direction in which the light travels allows for a longerfolded setup inside phones, allowing users to zoom in further without any blurriness. Genius is expected to be Apple's main supplier of such a lens.
There are some periscope-equipped phones on the market. The S22 Ultra has up to 10x optical and 100x digital zooms. The periscope lens would be added to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The 1/3" sensor will have a 12-megapixel resolution and up to 6x optical zoom. The 3x optical zoom limitation on the iPhone 13 Pro models is not new.
The periscope lens used in the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the same one used in the iPhone 16 Pro models in 2024, as Apple continues to set apart standard and Pro models by using high-end hardware features for the latter.
Enhancements to the telephoto and wide-angle lens are expected to be introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro. The telephoto camera will be upgraded to a 7-element lens.
The current 12-megapixel camera on the Pro models will be replaced by a 48-megapixel Wide camera, which would be a major improvement over the current 12-megapixel camera, and 8K video recording capabilities that will allow iPhone- recorded videos to be displayed on an 8K display or TV to provide a
