A lot will depend on your budget and the amount of astronomy you will be doing. If you want to get enough of a night sky photography experience, you can leave the shutter open on an off-the-shelf camera with a fast lens attached. This will allow you to see the night sky in a different way than what you saw with the naked eye. Taking multiple images of deep space objects through colored filters, tracking them through the night sky and putting the images back together with specialized software can produce stunning images.

If you're looking for a camera to take pictures of planets, what are the best models out there? Some people prefer the lighter, more portable cameras while others prefer the always-reliable DSLR models. It is possible to get a dedicated Astro camera to connect to your telescope, but it won't do you much good.

Our favorite cameras are not on sale at the moment but they are displayed with their lowest available price. It's always worth checking out the section below because there's something for everyone.

The lightweight body is light.

The screen has a fully articulated mechanism.

The video is 4k.

Small with large eyes.

The battery life is poor.

The crop is 1.6x in 4k.

The entry-level camera in Canon's new range offers a full frame sensor, 4K video, and access to Canon's RF lens range.

It is a small camera, but it is well thought-out and very usable, even though it is not large or heavy. If you are looking for something to carry in your pocket with a small zoom attached, or something to mount on a tripod with a fast prime, the RP is a great choice. The Ra version of the Astro camera was discontinued in September 2021.

It's easy to use.

The touch screen has a vari-angle.

It was effective.

The mode was cropped.

There isn't a dual-resolution camera in 4K.

Rivals are cheaper.

The T8i is one of Canon's smaller DSLRs, it has a 24MPAPS-C sensor, 4K video, and a touch screen. DSLRs are being pushed out of their traditional hunting grounds by other people, but they still have strengths such as optical viewfinders and longer battery life. The T8i can shoot at 7 frames per second for 170 fine JPEG images and can be used for action shots.

Even though it is small, the T8i is compatible with Canon's complete range of lens types.

There are two slots for memory cards.

The performance of the Air Force was superior.

There isn't an articulated screen.

A 4K 60p will be shown.

The Z6ii is a 24.5MP full frame camera that is popular with all kinds of photographers because of its ability to shoot continuously at 12 frames per second and take 4K video too. Excellent high-ISO handling means you can shoot in the dark, but it doesn't have a touch screen.

It is possible to use any of the F-mount lenses built for the Z mount, even though they can be expensive. Being light enough to attach to a telescope or star tracker is one of the benefits of a Z camera. The original Z6 is still available for a discount.

It's a good value.

The image quality is good.

The person is beginner friendly.

The screen has been fixed.

There is no 4k.

Slow in live view.

The D3500 is well-known for being a beginner-friendly DSLR. You get an enormous battery life and access to all the F-mount lens, but continuous shooting is only able to shoot 5 frames per second.

The D3500 is easy to use. It is ideal for beginners who want to get a good feel for the PASM modes without having to look at the menu. You can use the smaller, lighter, and full-frame brothers and sisters if you choose to.

There was a burst of 12 frames per second.

Superb images at low light.

The frame was fell-frame 4k.

The batteries are weak.

The average buffer is small.

The view finder lags.

There is no need to be upset about the original Z6. For a reason, it was very popular. It has enough resolution for making large prints and an excellent burst rate. Video features are great, with 4K oversampling from the 6K produced by the sensor.

The ISO dial can go up to 204,800 on its expanded setting and can produce a usable image from 12,800 - it's right at the forefront of high-ISO noise reduction.

Nikon D850

Before the R5 came along, high speed cameras were slow. The 45MP monster from Nikon was able to blaze away at 9 frames per second and at full resolution, dropping to 8MP and an electronic shutter for 30 frames per second. You'll need a battery grip to hit the highest speed, and the buffer will fill after just 51 shots, placing a lot of importance on fast memory cards to clear it.

The sensor doesn't have an anti-aliasing filter for optimum sharpness. One of the most capable DSLRs on the market is the D850.

Sony cameras

The Exmor R is a 61MP full frame sensor.

It's high resolution.

Eye- tracking

10 frames per second.

There are limited video options.

Design for old people.

Balances poorly with big eyes.

The A7 models are a small family of cameras, and the A7R I Va is the king. With the right lens and the right person behind it, the camera is capable of some very impressive images. Cropping into your images tightly is possible because of the high number of megapixels.

It has drawbacks, for example, you can't shoot at anything other than 60MP, but with 10FPS shooting, 4K video, and five-stop integrated image stabilization, it's a mighty photographic tool.

The designation "a" doesn't mean it's a dedicated Astro camera like Canon's EOS Ra, but it does mean it has a slightly updated body with a better screen and a faster connection. The older version is still available from a number of dealers.

It's lightweight and small.

Tracking auto focus in real time.

A video is recorded in 4K.

There is no in-body sensor- shift stabilization.

The electronic viewfinder has a low resolution.

It feels like plastic.

It is easy to carry with you a camera that is small and light because of the A6100'sAPS-C sensor. The Sony camera doesn't feel like it. 4K video, a 3.5mm microphone input, and Sony's excellent tracking are included in the price.

You don't get sensor-shift image stabilisation, but the decent burst speed of 11FPS, plus full wireless, make up for it.

Sony A7 III

The Sony A7III body

The Exmor R sensor has a 24.2MP full- frame Exmor R camera.

Continuous shooting at a rate of 10 frames per second.

A sophisticated system of weapons.

The video is 4k.

There is no drive or focus mode dial.

A small burst shooting buffer.

Imbalance with large eyes.

A dependable all-rounder, the Sony A7 III has enough sensor resolution for most people, and a fast burst rate as well. Its excellent autofocus system is one of its main selling points.

There are a lot of competitors breathing down the A7 III. Some of these come from Sony itself, in the form of other A7 family cameras, while others come from names steeped in photographic history. The E-mount lens range is becoming formidable, and the image quality it produces is hard to beat, so any Cyber Monday deals on the A7 III should be looked into.
