Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House aide, gave testimony to the House select committee about the attack on the Capitol.

CNN reported that Trump called the support staffer shortly after Hutchinson testified publicly before the committee. The staffer was worried about the call because they didn't communicate with the president a lot.

According to the site, the witness could have testified under oath. CNN did not say what role the person played.

NBC said it had confirmed CNN's reporting.

It was highly unusual for Trump to make the call.

A member of the Jan. 6 panel revealed earlier this week that Trump tried to call an unnamed witness but they didn't pick up the call.

During Tuesday's hearing, Cheney said that she had referred the matter to the Department of Justice.

During her testimony before the House panel, she said that Trump was aware of the crowd at his rally and that he thought things would get bad.

The president tried to grab the wheel of his limo when the Secret Service said they couldn't take him to the U.S. Capitol for security reasons.

Despite efforts by Trump and his surrogates to downplay her role in the White House, lawmakers said her testimony helped uncover new information in the probe.
