  • The story about the rape of a 10-year-old girl in Ohio was a lie.

  • A man was charged with rape after the message was deleted.

  • Since the case was first reported, it has drawn national attention.

The story of a 10-year-old Ohio girl getting an abortion after being raped was a lie after the arrest of a man in the case.

There is another lie. Did anyone surprise you? A story about Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost's office initially saying it had not found any evidence to support the rape charge was quoted in a message by Jordan.

During a speech about abortion policy in the wake of the Supreme Court's decision, President Biden mentioned the case.

Yost, Jordan, and a host of conservative commentators questioned the account, but some claimed that it was simply made up.

The Columbus Post Dispatch reported on the rape charge against Gershon Fuentes. The child was raped on two separate occasions, according to law enforcement. The aborted fetus is being tested to see if it was pregnant by the man. The girl traveled to Indiana to have the abortion because of the new Ohio laws.

A spokesman for Jordan didn't comment, but pointed out that the lawmaker called for Fuentes to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Politwoops, a service of ProPublica, confirmed the deletion of the account.

Yost had questioned the Indianapolis Star's reporting on the case on Fox News.

Yost told the Post Dispatch that they were happy when a child rapist was taken off the street. He told Fox that there wasn't a "whisper" about it.

The case received a lot of attention after Ohio banned almost all abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. The Star reported that more and more Ohioians were crossing state lines to get abortions.

Jordan is the top Republican on the committee. He is in line to chair a powerful panel if Republicans take back the chamber.
