  • The leak of the video of the Uvalde massacre was slammed by a top Texas cop.

  • The director of the Texas Department of Public Safety was disappointed that families didn't see it first.

  • The footage from Robb Elementary was going to be released soon.

A top Texas law enforcement official slammed the leaking of security footage that showed police waiting to stop a school shooter.

The video was released before all of the families who were impacted that day and the community of Uvalde had the chance to see it.

There was a plan to release the footage to the community before the public. The video was published by the Austin American Statesman.

The four-minute-long harrowing clip includes footage from inside and outside the Robb Elementary School on May 24. There is a clip in the video that shows heavily armed police officers waiting in a hallway.

The media was slammed by the city council and some parents for publishing the footage before the scheduled release date. The community members said the city should be attacking the police.

"I do believe that watching the entire segment of law enforcement's response, or lack of it, is also important, even though I'm happy that a small portion is now available for the public," he said.

Law enforcement in Uvalde has faced intense scrutiny in the wake of the massacre and has been accused of changing the story of how the shooting unfolded multiple times.

The video shows that the law enforcement response to the attack at Robb Elementary was a failure.

He said that when one officer fails, everyone fails.
