A former elections manager for a Colorado clerk has been arrested on allegations that she was involved in a vote tampering scheme.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office said that Brown turned herself in on Monday after a warrant was issued for her arrest. The arrest was reported by the paper.

Peters and Knisley are accused of allowing a copy of a hard drive to be made during an update of election equipment. In the summer of 2015, a photo and video of confidential voting system passwords were posted on social media.

Peters, who has become a hero to election conspiracy theorists, lost her bid to become the GOP candidate for Colorado Secretary of State.

Peters is accused of trying to influence a public servant, criminal impersonation, two counts of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, one count of identity theft, violation of duty, and failing to comply with the Secretary of State.

Knisley is accused of attempting to influence a public servant, conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, violation of duty, and failing to comply with the Secretary of State.

Both have dismissed the allegations and Peters called them politically motivated.

Colorado's state government is controlled by Democrats while Mesa County is mostly rural and Republican.

The day after her arrest, Brown was let go.

Attempts to get in touch with her were unsuccessful. Brown does not have an attorney who can speak for her, according to court records.
