The NHL draft is over and teams are looking to mold their rosters via trades and re-signing.

The start of free agency is usually on July 1, but this year it will start on July 13 because of the changed season in 2020.

Although the key dates have changed, the goal of free agency is the same: to land a game-changing veteran who can boost their contention status or bolster their core with the glue that builds championships.

Gaudreau will not re-sign with Flames

We don't know where Johnny Gaudreau will sign this off-season, but he won't be with the Flames, the only team for which he's played in the NHL.

There has been a lot of speculation that the New York Islanders, New JerseyDevils and PhiladelphiaFlyers could be interested in acquiring Gaudreau. His free agent contract is expected to be in the $10 million range. Fourteen players in the NHL make at least $10 million a year.

Johnny Gaudreau & Nazem Kadri should both land massive deals.Philly is Gaudreau's top choice but Flyers need to clear $$. They've been trying to move JVR's contract.. If not, Gaudreau may sign with another Metro team.

NYR among top suitors for Kadri, but he'll have options.
