At this month's Commonwealth Games, Australia's players will have the chance to complete a 'grand slam' of tournament victories, according to Meg Lanning.
Australia holds the World Cup in both T20 and 50-over games.
There was a men's cricket event at the 1998 Games in Malaysia.
It's a very unique opportunity for us. Lanning wants to win the gold medal.
Our group is looking forward to it. I think it's a great time for our team because of the new challenge.
Australia won the T20 World Cup in two of the last three years.
In the World Cup, Lanning's side defeated England in the final to go through the tournament without a loss.
The eight-team T20 tournament will include England, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Barbados.
Lanning claimed that Australia will thrive on the chance to be a part of a multi-sport Australia team in the summer of 2022.
Lanning, who has played 115 T20Is for Australia, said that this is not something they are used to.
"We won't get that at the World Cup, so we are going to try and embrace that as much as possible, and be part of Team Australia as much as possible"
I like to watch the Commonwealth Games. A team atmosphere is something I like.
Being at the athletes' village and learning from other athletes is something we are looking forward to.
It's a chance for the game to reach a new audience, and that's only going to grow the game.
Cricket being a part of the Olympic Games in the future is something that Lanning is in favor of.
Cricket is short of cash in places where it is still developing because of government funding linked to Olympic inclusion.
The working group established by the International Cricket Council is expected to give an update at the annual general meeting later this month.
It would be amazing to see cricket in the Olympics. It's important for the game to reach a new audience.
It would allow other people to see that game and it would help the growth of it in other countries.
It would be amazing if it got into the Olympics, but I'm not sure what it takes.
It's something I would love to do but I think it will probably be after I finish playing.
