At least 87 children were secretly fathered by an Indiana fertility doctor in the 1970s and ’80s, and one of them sued for exposing her identity.

The woman, who goes by the name Jane, claims that producers of the documentary contacted many of the children, offering to interview them and promise they wouldn't be identified without their explicit consent. They broke that promise with her.

The lawsuit was filed in state court in Indiana and then transferred to federal court because of the damage done to her reputation.

She is trying to get a court order to have her name removed from the documentary.

The woman's lawyers wrote in the complaint that she may be able to protect her private life from people who haven't seen the documentary.

The company didn't respond to the request for comment.

Donald Cline, a former Indianapolis-based doctor, pleaded guilty to two counts of obstruction of justice for using his sperm to father dozens of patients. According to the woman who sued, she took a DNA test in 2016 that confirmed she was a secret child.

The work was nominated for an award.

The case is in the northern district of Indiana.
