The vice-chair of the January 6 committee said Tuesday that the matter has been turned over to the Justice Department.
The witness, who has not yet appeared at any of the committee hearings, did not take the call from Trump.
Cheney said that the witness informed their lawyer about the call.
It's unclear if the DOJ has opened a probe into the call.
"We will take any attempt to influence witness testimony very seriously," Cheney said in her closing statement.
At the end of the June 28 hearing, Cheney said that the committee had evidence that Trump's team may have tried to get witnesses to lie. The witness told the committee that Trump's team reached out to make sure they were protecting who they needed to protect. According to reports, the June 28 hearing was held because the committee was concerned about an ongoing effort to influence her testimony.
