According to the House committee investigating the January 6 riot, Roger Stone discussed security plans with an indicted member of the Oath Keepers the day before the riot.
Kelly Meggs, a Florida Oath Keeper indicted on a seditious conspiracy charge, is accused of communicating with Stone on January 5.
Stone was guarded by Oath Keepers in Washington.
According to the committee, Extremist groups came together to discuss plans for January 6 using several chats, including one called "Friends of Stone" that included Stone along with Proud Boys leader.
The committee did not suggest that Stone was a member of the "Ministry of Self-Defense", but it is possible that he was.
The vice chairwoman of the committee said at a hearing last month that Trump ordered his chief of staff to contact Stone the night before the riot to figure out what would happen the next day.
The January 6 actions of extremists are the focus of Tuesday's hearing. The testimony from Pat Cipollone was highly anticipated.
