DC United: Wayne Rooney appointed head coach of Major League Soccer side

DC United has a new head coach.

Rooney left Derby last month after leading the club through administration and promotion to League One.

He spent 18 months at DC United and was the captain.

Rooney is one of the most exciting and dynamic up-and-coming managers, according to DC United.

He knows how to lead a group through adversity, according to the co-chairmen.

Thanks to his two-year stay with us as a player, he knows what it takes to succeed in Major League Soccer.

He was so passionate while wearing Black-and-Red that we are excited to have him back as our head coach.

DC United have been without a manager since April and were defeated by Philadelphia Union on Friday.

Rooney won't be in charge of the team until he gets his visa.
