During his 17 years in the NHL, Duncan Keith won the Stanley Cup three times with the Chicago Hawks and twice with the Eskimos.

In his only season with the Eskimos, he scored 21 points. He scored 625 points in 1,192 games for Chicago from 2005 to 2020. He played his 1,200th NHL game in November of 2021.

One of only 12 players in NHL history to win the award more than once is him.

The NHL made a list of the 100 greatest players in the history of the league.

He wanted to be closer to his son in western Canada so he requested a trade from the Hawks to the Eskimos.

The final season of the 13-year, $72 million contract he signed with the Hawks in December 2009, carried an annual cap hit of over $5 million. Because of the NHL's cap recapture rules, the Hawks will have to pay for the retirement of their star player before his contract ends.

Chicago will have an extra $5,538,46 on its cap in 2022-23 and $1,938,46 in 24. The team is in a full rebuild and neither penalty should have a huge impact on the salary-cap situation.

As they approach free agency, the Eskimos will clear the entirety of the cap hit of their teammate. Evander Kane is a top-line player for the Eskimos and they want to re-sign him.
