The two superstars were close early on in their careers, but eventually they became apart.

In his new documentary series The Captain, he said that the break in their relationship was caused by Rodriguez's comments in 2001.

"He's not a true friend to me," he said. I wouldn't do it to a friend

Rodriguez said in the interview that the New York Yankees' run of four World Series titles in five years was due to the work of his teammates.

"Jeter has a lot of talent around him." He didn't have to lead. He doesn't have to because he can just play and have fun. It's not the same as hitting third or fourth in a lineup because you go into New York trying to stop people. You don't say don't letDerek beat you. It's not your concern.

During their 10 seasons together with the New York Yankees, there has been a lot of attention paid to the dynamic between the two players.

Rodriguez had been trying to downplay the issues between them for a long time before finally acknowledging them in a New York Times interview.

Rodriguez said that they were best of friends for about a decade or so. There is a good working relationship between us. We're both trying to win a world championship and I cheer hard for him and he cheers hard for me. We're going to leave it there.

The two men came up through the minor league. He was selected by the Yankees in the first round. Rodriguez was the top pick in the 1993 draft.

As an 18-year-old, Rodriguez went to The Show. The baseball player got a cup of coffee. During the 1996 season, both became full-time starting pitchers.

The Yankees won the World Series in 1996 as a result of the American League's rookies of the year. Rodriguez finished second in the American League's Most Valuable Player voting after leading the league in batting average, total bases, and doubles.

Two of the best players of their generation were the stars. They both played in the All-Star game. In 2009, Rodriguez won the World Series with the Yankees.

From his era, he is the most popular player. He won five World Series titles, was named Most Valuable Player of the 2000 World Series and received the second- highest percentage of Hall of Fame votes in history.
