Since first introducing its eye-catching Air Max 720 in February, Nike has used the shoe's bulbous cushioning unit in several alternate fashions, the latest result of which is the winter-ready Air Max 720 Horizon. Apart from the recognizable midsole, the Horizon also offers a durable construction and unique detailing, making for a Max that'll get the wearer through even the most inclement weather.

Arriving in three colorways that draw from the sky's morning-to-night transition above the peak of Mount Hood - Oregon's highest mountain - the 720 Horizon's design is inspired by highly technical winter jackets. The shoe's 5/8 cut upper boasts GORE-TEX construction and a cut-out plastic overlay that reaches from heel to forefoot, offering colorful contrast on the black pair and tonal detailing on the navy and white pairs. A higher-than usual heel clip provides extra support, and the outsole is beefed up as well with a ridged traction pattern designed to tackle slippery terrain.

All three makeups will release globally on Nike.com, the Nike app, and Nike Sportswear stockists on November 1. The retail price has yet to be announced.

Elsewhere in the Nike universe, they're gearing up to re-release the classic Air Max Plus 3 from the early '00s, and have also readied a new "Oatmeal" colorway of the Air Fear of God 1.
