According to a report from the Japanese newspaper, the company will stop making single lens cameras.

The death of the SLR camera has been coming for a long time, as the alternatives have increased in image quality while also giving consumers the option to use lighter and smaller products.

The existing SLR models will still be produced and distributed, but the new models will only be developed. The company has come to be seen as synonymous with the Japanese company due to the wide use of their cameras for more than 60 years.

Nikon will continue to sell existing DSLR models

Last month, it was announced that the D3500 and D5600 DSLRs, which were more affordable, would no longer be produced. The company sold more than 400,000 cameras.

The camera market has shrunk over the years due to the rise of smartphone technology.

Last year, Canon stated that it would be its last flagship DSLR camera, as it retreats from the technology. Canon's CEO said at the time that market needs are rapidly moving towards mirrorless cameras. The company said it would continue to make DSLR cameras in the future.

If we hear back, we will update this story as soon as possible.
