As enterprises process more data at the edge of their networks, edge computing has exploded in interest. According to a survey from an edge computing services vendor, 77% of companies think they will see more spending for edge projects in the next two years. Edge computing, which refers to the practice of storing and analyzing data near the end- user, is beneficial for some organizations, but not all. IT teams don't have enough infrastructure to manage a fleet of edge devices.

Scale Computing can help enterprises that aren't sure where to start with edge computing by using storage architecture and disaster recovery technologies. Scale Computing was co-launched by Ready and two other people.

A messaging and file transfer platform was developed by the two men. Corvigo offered a tool for blocking email.

Scale sold custom storage software for small and medium-sized businesses. The company pivoted to "hyperconverged" infrastructure and edge computing products, which virtualizes customers' infrastructure by combining server, storage, a virtual machine monitor and a single system.

According to Ready, the IT infrastructure platform engineered byScale Computing eliminates the need for traditional IT silos of virtualization software, disaster recovery software, server, and shared storage, replacing these with a fully integrated, highly available platform for running applications. The self-healing platform automatically identifies, mitigates, and corrects problems in the infrastructure in real time, enabling applications to achieve maximum uptime.

Those are not easy promises to make. The company raised $55 million in new funding from Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital, bringing the total raised to $202 million.

According to Pete D. Chung, Managing Director and Head of Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital, the technological advantage of Scale Computing's edge computing platform solved endemic customer problems through enhanced resilience, manageability and efficacy of their IT infrastructures. From our research, it was clear that Scale Computing's customers benefit from material cost savings and increased confidence in their IT infrastructure.

Scale gives companies the ability to run apps close to where their users are, at the edge, centralizing management of remote sites in a single dashboard. The company's device management tool gives users the ability to see a fleet of devices from a console and check their health, flag problems and log them so that IT teams can arrive at a diagnosis.

Businesses across the spectrum of industries want to simplify their IT infrastructure, improve business resilience, and drive down operational costs. The importance of having edge computing capabilities outside of a large centralized data center has been highlighted by the Pandemic. The need for IT silos of virtualization software, disaster recovery software, server, and shared storage is eliminated withScale's software.

There has been an increase in demand for edge computing management software. The edge computing market was estimated to be worth $7.43 billion in 2021.

When asked if Scale had any plans to increase its workforce by the end of the year, Ready wouldn't say anything. He said that the company has over 6,000 customers in North America, Europe and the Middle East.

The grocery store franchise Jerry's Enterprises and the casino company Genting Group are said to have been customers.

According to Ready, Scale Computing has seen unprecedented demand for its edge computing, Virtualization, and hyperconverged solutions despite the uncertainty caused by the Pandemic. The new funds will be used to expand our leadership position in edge computing, as well as investments in people, R&D, and restructuring of debt.
