According to Jon Morosi of the MLB Network, the New York Yankees are interested in acquiring a new outfielder.
According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Yankees have a "fallback" option if Andrew Benintendi's price goes too high.
According to Jon Heyman and Dan Martin of the New York Post, the Bronx Bombers are in talks with other teams about trading for Joey Gallo.
Taylor, who won a Gold Glove award last year, would improve New York's defense and allow manager Aaron Boone to work in more rest for the three outfielders.
It would allow him to move him back to the designated hitter more frequently. He has played in 34 games this year.
Adding another outfielder makes sense for the Yankees because of the nature of Gallo.

Gallo's batting average is just.629, compared to his career average of.804. He hasn't helped the Yankees at the plate if he isn't hitting a home run.
The Yankees would love to have Benintendi on board. He has been excellent this season, hitting.317 with three homers and 35 runs, and his price tag may be going up.

It's possible that players like Taylor or Peralta will be more attractive as cheaper backup plans.
Over the next few weeks, the Yankees will explore the market for another outfielder as they look to finish off a title run.
