Albert Pujols is going out with a bang in the All-Star week.
According to The Athletic, Pujols will compete in the Home Run Derby in the year 2022.
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso and Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. confirmed their participation on social media on Monday. The competition will be held in Los Angeles.
Pujols has participated in the Home Run Derby four times but has never won. He placed second in 2003 after losing to Anderson in the final round.
He will end his career in the year 2022. In 49 games this year, Pujols is batting.235/.302/.668 with five home runs and 19RBI. He will be playing in the All-Star game for the 11th time.
The Home Run Derby will be held this year. Kyle Schwarber said he would be interested, and there was a chance that he would be in the lineup.
