MLB Trade Rumors: Luis Castillo Subject of 'Preliminary' Talks Between Dodgers, Reds

Jon Morosi says that the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds have held preliminary discussions about Luis Castillo.

The Dodgers are definitely involved in the interest of the right-handed pitcher.

The Reds parted ways with several veterans in order to align their payroll with their resources. Sonny Gray and Tucker Barnhart were out. The way for Wade to join the Chicago Cubs was paved by the fact that Cincinnati declined his option.

Castillo is going to be dealt soon.

The 29-year-old can become a free agent in twenty four years. The odds of him being re-signed by the Reds are slim. He's getting a lot of interest because of that.

Castillo is one of the top pitchers on the market. He's 3-4 with a 3.03 FIP through 12 starts. He has an average of 9.38 strikeouts and 2.98 walks per nineinnings.

The Dodgers have the financial resources to give him a new contract when the time comes, which makes them a good landing spot.
