The concession workers at Dodger Stadium are threatening to go on strike in the days leading up to the All-Star game.
The union that represents those workers said in a news release on Monday that 99% of the employees voted in favor of going on strike. A representative for Levy Restaurants didn't reply immediately.
The All-Star Game will be held at Dodger Stadium for the first time in 42 years. Ahead of the festivities, the Dodgers will travel for five games.
The concession workers at Dodger Stadium are employed by Levy Restaurants, a Chicago-based company. Unite Here Local 11 didn't give details on the workers' demands, but said it was seeking to negotiate a fair new union contract.
Susan Minato wrote that stadium workers are proud of the role they play in bringing fans the best game experience possible. They are the core of our tourism and sports industry, yet many struggle to stay in their homes. Economic uncertainty is what they live with because the quality of jobs varies. Workers shouldn't have to live like this.
