The regular-season will resume on Tuesday after the All-Star Game, as players return to the stretch run. More is still to be decided after a lot of learning. Each team's key for success the rest of the way is looked at in this week's power rankings. Sue Bird predicted in our preseason rankings that several teams would have a chance to win the title, including Seattle. There are five teams with winning records and three of them are within three games of each other. The Sky center/forward said, "It's not how you start, it's how you finish" Last year, we learned that. It's great that we've played, but we can do more. With three games on the East Coast coming up, the team that won the Team Wilson All-Star game can return to Las Vegas. Wilson said that they get so caught up in doing so well at the beginning that they hit a roadblock. It's like 'Oh!' The hard work is done. It's a long season and you will have times when adversity hits. What do you do to get over that hump? In the second half, the All-Stars wore jerseys with the number 42 written on them. This is the first thing. The sky of Chicago.
Record: 16-6
Previous ranking: 1
On Wednesday, the Sky lost to a motivated Minnesota team, which ended a five-game winning streak, but they rebounded with a victory over Indiana. The Sky have lost six times by a single digit, four by three points or less. They will need to play well the rest of the way if they want to win the game. They entered the playoffs last year with a.500 record and went on to win the title. They need to maintain who they have been so far: a consistently good team that has been competitive.
At Los Angeles and Dallas this week.
There are two There is a storm in Seattle.
Record: 15-8
Previous ranking: 4
The Storm moved up to their highest spot in the Power Rankings since the beginning of the season. They beat Indiana and LA last week. The Storm's defense has been terrific, leading the league in defensive rating, steals and blocked shots, and allowing their opponents the fewest points off turnovers and fast break points. They have scored 77 points or less in seven of their eight losses. The addition of Tina Charles should help with offensive consistency.
This week's opponents are Dallas and Indiana.
There are three. The Connecticut Sun is outdoors.
Record: 14-8
Previous ranking: 3
Connecticut and the Sun have lost in the past six weeks. The two teams that are currently right below them have had their struggles recently. Jonquel Jones is one of the best frontcourts in the league. The loss of Jasmine Thomas to a knee injury changed the guard equation, which is Connecticut's biggest concern the rest of the way. The Sun are in the bottom third of the league in 3-point rate and they have made the second-fewest 3-pointers of any team.
At Indiana, at Atlanta, and at Las Vegas.
There are four. The Washington Mystics are a professional basketball team.
Record: 14-10
Previous ranking: 5
The team with Elena Delle Donne in the lineup is 11-4 and 3-6 when she is not. They know they need to play it safe with her back issues and won't deviate from that plan. The health of the two-time Most Valuable Player is very important. She was annoyed that she wasn't an All-Star. If Delle Donne can get through to the playoffs in good shape, it will make a big difference for Washington.
At Los Angeles, at Phoenix, and at Minnesota this week.
Team Wilson defeated Team Stewart 134- 112 to win the All-Star game.
There are five. There is a Las Vegas team.
Record: 15-7
Previous ranking: 2
It has been rocky since the start of the season. Three of them have been at home. The Liberty had a franchise-record offensive performance in a 116-107 victory over Las Vegas. Las Vegas has a problem with depth. Las Vegas gets almost all of its points from the starting five. In order to be in the best shape for the playoffs, Hammon needs to balance the risk and reward of resting the starters.
At New York and Connecticut this week.
There are six. There is a women's basketball team in Minnesota.
Record: 38-15
Previous ranking: 8
They have won five of their past seven, and they seem to be a different team now that they have a big win. Sylvia Fowles is the center of the team and she is doing a great job. The best way to get the best out of themselves is by getting consistent scoring punch from Aerial Powers and the other players on the team. Sometimes they don't need to do that, but they have to make their presence felt.
At Indiana, at Washington, and at Phoenix this week.
The basketball player throws down a dunk for her team.
There are seven. The Los Angeles Clippers.
Record: 10-12
Previous ranking: 6
The Sparks were short-handed against Seattle and lost. Nneka is working hard. Los Angeles needs more from Liz Cambage. The health of their guards is the most important factor for the rest of the season. Chennedy Carter has missed five games. The player has played seven games. The difference between making the playoffs and missing them is the perimeter play of the Sparks.
In this week's games: vs. Washington and vs. Chicago.
Some of the best moments from Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard and Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young can be found here.
There are eight. The dream of the city of Atlanta.
Record: 10-12
Previous ranking: 7
Despite losing to Washington last week, the Dream should be happy with their season thus far. They were not expected to be in the running for the playoffs. It's impressive that they have done it without Tiffany. Atlanta is in the playoffs for the first time in over a year. It might seem like a lot to put on a rookies, but they are franchise-changing. Atlanta's Howard is the leading scorer in the league with 15.1 points per game. She doesn't have to do it all herself, but she should keep the load she has carried so far.
At Chicago, at Connecticut, and at Phoenix this week.
There are nine. The Phoenix Mercury is a basketball team.
Record: 10-14
Previous ranking: 9
The first full-featured fantasy league game dedicated to a professional women's sport will be available in the summer of 2020. Start a league or get a team.
You can sign up for nothing.
Phoenix lost to Los Angeles and beat New York but still stood pat in the power rankings. A lot of new has been dealt with by the Mercury. It has been difficult to get used to the fact that centerBrittney Griner is being held abroad. The new head coach is still adjusting to everything. Tina Charles was a new big-name player for 16 games until she decided to leave the franchise and go to Seattle. Two of the Mercury's stars are Diggins-Smith and Diana Taurasi. Turner, the leading rebounder and shot-blocker, will be the key to getting into the playoffs. Turner needs to keep playing and avoiding foul trouble.
At Minnesota, Washington, and Atlanta are this week's opponents.
There are ten. The Statue of Liberty is known as New York Liberty.
Record: 9-13
Previous ranking: 10
The Liberty's 116-point performance against Las Vegas felt like they were too low. That was followed by a loss. The Liberty was the same as last week because they dropped three of their previous four. The All-Star guard has looked the part of a No. 1 pick this season, and the Knicks can count on him. Betnijah Laney is a guard and forward for the Liberty. She had surgery on her knee on June 1 and is expected to come back in eight weeks. Laney will help on both sides of the court if the Liberty make the playoffs.
Las Vegas is this week's opponent.
There is a new date for the 11th. They call them the Dallas Wings.
Record: 10-12
Previous ranking: 11
The Wings are like any other team with a losing record. They will either make the playoffs or be in the draft lottery. It seems like both are likely. Dallas moved into the top six in the power rankings and won three of four. The Wings have lost three of four since then. Their victory was against Connecticut just before the All-Star Game, and was led by All-Star guard Arike Ogunbowale. The key to a strong finish is post play. She returned to the lineup on July 1. The Wings can make their guards even more lethal if they can be more impactful inside.
At Seattle, at Minnesota, and at Chicago this week.
The movie Indiana Fever is about a boy named Indiana.
Record: 5-19
Previous ranking: 12
The management needs to be thinking about next year. On a six-game losing streak, Indiana might inspire some optimism for next season with the play of rookies NaLyssa Smith and Queen Egbo. If the lottery balls go the team's way, they could be an important part of the team's plans for the future. The young players need to believe in the process in order for the team to succeed.
This weekend: at Seattle and at Connecticut.
