Jony Ive is still involved with the project as a consultant. The Apple Car team was advised by Ive that they should lean into the weird design of the vehicle and not hide its sensors.
According to The Information, Apple is trying to get exemptions from the NHTSA to release a vehicle without a steering wheel and brakes. The report claims that Apple has considered allowing passengers to lie down and sleep in the car.
According to the report, Apple is considering hiding the latest prototype of the vehicle during testing in the public. The vehicle is not expected to be released for years.
