James Webb Space Telescope image moved up to today at 5PM ET

The first image of the James Webb Space Telescope will be revealed today rather than tomorrow as planned, it said in a statement. There will be a live stream of the event on NASA TV and images on the NASA website.

There has been anticipation for the first images. On Friday, NASA announced the targets to be shown, including the Carina and Southern Ring Nebulae and the gas exoplanet WASP-96b. Scientists and administrators are the only ones who have seen the images yet. NASA deputy administrator Pam Melroy said that what she has seen has moved her.

NASA did not say which image would be revealed today. The rest will start arriving tomorrow at 10:00 with remarks by NASA and the leadership. There will be live coverage of the image release on NASA TV, as well as live coverage on various social media sites.
