33 players from each league will represent their league in the All-Star game on July 19 in Los Angeles.

Fans voted to pick one player at each position in each league for the starting lineup. Albert Pujols was added to the team as a legacy pick.

The Commissioner's Office combined the input from the player ballot and the player to make the final announcement.

There were some surprises in the final results but it was a deserving list of participants.

The reserve list had selections that missed out on being voted in as starter.

Nolan Arenado wasn't the best third baseman, but he's more deserving of an All-Star selection than anyone else. According to Baseball Reference, Arenado was second in the majors in wins above replacement, behind only teammate Paul Goldschmidt.

After winning nine straight Gold Glove awards, Arenado is on pace for another while producing at a high level.

Schwarber has 28 home runs, which is the most in the league.

Sandy Alcantara, a starter for the Miami Marlins, had a 1.73 earned run average in the game against the New York Mets. It was his 12th start in a row.

The American League's leading hitter is Jose Ramirez, who has a.958 OPS and a league-leading 66 runs.

A key part of the Houston Astros' success has been the play of Yordan Alvarez, who entered the day with a.302 average, 26 home runs and 60RBI. He leads the majors with a.653 batting average.

A year after winning the ALCS, he was selected to the All-Star team.

Some quality players were left off the list and will need an injury replacement to get to LA.

Jeff Passan @JeffPassan

Ty France was robbed.

Stacie Wheeler @StacieMWheeler

Will Smith is the best catcher in MLB and rightfully deserves to be an All-Star. I know it doesn't matter, but that snub triggers me.

John P. Lopez @LopezOnSports

Ryne Stanek has been just about perfect in a thankless job. And the All Star snub only confirms just how thankless it is.

Tim Kelly @TimKellySports

It would appear that neither Zack Wheeler or Aaron Nola has been picked for the All-Star team. Frankly, that's shocking.

Only the best can represent each league at the upcoming exhibition, and there are still a few spots available.
