Ben Chilwell
Chilwell returned to play as a substitute in Chelsea's last game of last season after six months out

After a difficult time in his career, Ben Chilwell wants to be England's first choice left-back at the World Cup.

He missed six months after knee surgery after a positive start to last season.

He came off the bench for the final game of the season.

He said he's dreamed of playing in a World Cup since he was a child.

It is more motivation for me to try and seal that spot down, especially after the Euros, which was a difficult time for me.

It would be a highlight of my career if I could go to the World Cup as the number one left-back and have a good tournament.

I will do everything I can to make sure I'm in the tournament.

The manager of the Euro 2020 tournament picked him in his squad but he didn't play.

At the start of last season, he lost his place in the team due to mental fatigue, but won his place back and scored in three straight games.

The player partially tore his knee in the first game of the season and was hoping to come back without surgery. They were top of the league at that time.

He had an operation after breaking down again on Christmas Day, which kept him out until the last day of the game.

He said that being in touch with the England coach helped him through his rehabilitation.

"I've spoken to him a few times, he was in contact with staff at the club and sent me messages saying 'I hear the rehabilitation is going well and you're working hard, just keep going and hopefully see you soon,'" he said."

I told him good luck with the games. The manager is keeping an eye on you when you aren't there. It means I'm still in his mind.

The injury happened at the perfect time, I'm back now and we are close to the World Cup.

I think I will be in the squad if I play well between now and then. I was always positive that I would be in the World Cup squad.

The club's pre-season tour includes a trip to the US.

The team is training at UCLA in Los Angeles before playing games in Las Vegas, Charlotte andOrlando, where they will face off against Arsenal.
