If John Fisher ever wants to sell the team, he won't have to look far.

I've had an offer to buy the A's from John Fisher, but I'm not sure how long. Joe Lacob is the governor of the Golden State Warriors. It's up to him, it's his decision. He would have been able to own a piece of the Warriors if we had been partners. I told him that. I would have done a deal like that.

Lacob said he had the A's done before they were sold. Wolff was a frat brother of Bud Selig when they attended college.

Lacob said the purchase was taken away from him.

He was angry at Bud Selig. That wasn't the issue for me. Bud did what he wanted to do and didn't know me. I learned that it is not all about money. The right friends are needed in these leagues.

A's history would probably change a lot if Lacob had been on board.

The opening day payroll has never been higher than 23rd. Moneyball and Fisher and Wolff have the same spending habits.

The Warriors have spared no expense in order to retain their dynasty. The Golden State Warriors had a payroll of $184 million for the upcoming season.

The Warriors generated the highest basketball-related revenue in the NBA in 2021 with $474 million, and the new Chase Center bolsters that financial strength.

TheAthletics are struggling to get a new stadium built, one that could theoretically pad their bottom line in the same way Chase Center has for Golden State.

In reference to a new A's stadium, Lacob lamented how he would have had it done a long time ago.

He said that he would pay for it privately. You know what? You can say at the end of the day that you did not take any money. It's easier for me to take that tack since you didn't get the $300 million or $400 million in infrastructure money.

For the time being, the dream of a stadium at Howard Terminal in Oakland is still alive, but it still has a lot of work to do. Concerns over the future of the ownership of the A's have arisen due to the lack of a plan for a new park.

In light of Lacob's comments, many fans of the A's will wonder what could've been if Fisher would've taken him up on the offer.
