The veteran forward cleared waivers with the Spurs and has found a new home.

The Boston Celtics have agreed to a two-year, $13.3 million contract with the player option for a third year, according to the player's agent.

A 13-year NBA veteran, Gallinari spent the last two seasons playing for the Atlanta Hawks before being traded to San Antonio in the Dejounte Murray deal. The Spurs are a rebuilding team, so it was a foregone conclusion that Gallinari would be better suited to play for a contender.

In 66 games last season, Gallinari averaged 11.7 points and 4.7 rebound while shooting 38.2% from three-point range. In each of the previous three seasons, the 33-year-old had shot over 40 percent from outside.

He was drafted sixth overall by the New York Knicks. He has played for five different teams. He has never won the NBA title, but joining the Celtics will give him a chance to do so.

The Celtics lost in the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors. The Celtics had to beat a number of Eastern Conference teams to get to the championship series.
