Pau Gasol's jersey is likely to be retired by the team soon.
The jersey retirement ceremony for the Buss family could be in the works for some time during the 2022-23 season according to the 42 year old.
Gasol spent six-plus seasons in Los Angeles and helped lead the team to back-to-back titles. He was especially effective as a No. 2 option next to Kobe Bryant, as the two of them developed an instant chemistry when the Lakers acquired him.
A native of Spain, Gasol began his professional career in Europe before being drafted third overall in 2001 by the Atlanta Hawks. He became a six-time All-Star after winning the 2002 rookies of the year award.
Gasol played for five different teams. He didn't play a game for the Trail blazers. He signed with FC Barcelona after returning to Spain. The ACB championship and the EuroLeague final were won by Barcelona.
Gasol won a total of 11 medals for Spain in international competition. He was part of the team that won the gold medal in the 2006 World Cup.
