According to reports, Steve Bannon will testify before the January 6 Committee in a live and public hearing.

After receiving a letter from Donald Trump that the former president wouldn't claim executive privilege, Steve Bannon told the panel that he would testify.

According to The Washington Post, Trump invoked executive privilege when he was first subpoenaed.

Executive Privilege was invoked when you first got the Subpoena. I watched as you and other people have been treated badly, having to spend a lot of money on legal fees, and out of respect for the Office of the President.

"If you reach an agreement on a time and place for your testimony, I will waive Executive Privilege for you, which allows you to testify honestly and fairly," Trump said.

In November, he was indicted for contempt of Congress. He said the issues surrounding Trump's executive privilege had to be settled before he would start talking to the panel. The trial is scheduled to start in July.

It is not known how the letter from Trump will affect the contempt case.
