The first 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models with the Touch Bar will be added to the vintage product list on July 31, according to an internal memo shared with Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers.
The first MacBook Pro models with the Touch Bar were released in October 2016 as part of a complete redesign of the Macbook Pro. The new features included a thinner and lighter design, Touch ID, a larger trackpad, and the removal of all ports.
The Touch Bar is still available on the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
The memo shows that the 9.7-inch iPad Pro will be classified as vintage at the end of the month. As of July 31, there will be a full list of vintage devices.
After five years, a device is considered "vintage" by Apple. The five-year mark has passed since the first MacBook Pro models with the Touch Bar were discontinued.
Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers can now repair vintage devices for up to two years after they are classified as vintage, subject to parts availability.
The original iPad mini will be added to the obsolete products list on July 31. After seven years since Apple last distributed the device for sale, obsolete devices are no longer eligible for repairs from Apple.
