The risk of under-hood fires is one of the reasons Ford is recalling certain models. Over 100,000 vehicles in the US are affected by the recall.

In the event of an engine failure, engine oil and fuel Vapor could cause a fire beneath the hood of the car, according to CNBC and the news agency. Ford will begin notifying owners of the recall on August 8th, when they will be able to adjust the under engine shield and grille shutter. According to CNBC, Ford has received 23 reports of the issue, but no injuries have been reported. Ford didn't reply immediately.

In June, Ford recalled nearly 49,000 of its electric Mustang Mach-E vehicles

There is a previous recall of Lincoln Navigator and Ford expedition SUVs for the risk of under-hood fires. An update from Ford expands the pool of cars that were affected by the recall to 66,221.

The printed circuit boards from this supplier are vulnerable to a high-current short because of a switch in manufacturers. Ford advises owners to park their cars outside and away from structures, but says they can still drive until the necessary replacement parts are available in September.

Ford put deliveries on hold until it found a fix for the battery safety issues that led to the recall of 49,000 of its electric mustang mach-e vehicles. Ford will roll out an over-the-air update at a later date, as dealers now have access to a software update that fixes the issue.
