An Air Canada passenger who recently lost luggage said she packed a carry-on bag to avoid travel disruptions but was later made to check the bag which was then lost.

Emily Maitino told Insider that she was made to check her bag in LA after she was told there was no more room for carry-on items.

After waiting for two hours at the luggage carousel in Barcelona, she realized the bag wasn't there.

Maitino told Insider that she had called Air Canada many times after the bag went missing, but hadn't received a response.

Air Canada did not reply immediately.

Maitino lost her luggage on an Air Canada flight.

Some passengers have taken to social media to complain. One Air Canada passenger told Insider that they made 20 calls to Air Canada after the airline lost their luggage on a connecting flight from Lisbon to New York.

In the summer of 2022, the aviation industry was thrown into chaos as both airlines and airports struggled to staff up.

Air Canada is not the only airline that has experienced problems recently.

British Airways said it would cancel over 10,000 short-haul flights to and from London airports this summer. The pilots went on strike and caused the cancellation of hundreds of flights.

The summer schedules of other airlines are being trimmed.
